Kudos to Bill Ball
About a month ago, the toothed belt warning light came on a few miles away from home. The thing is... it went out by itself. I was looking at it (a combo of fear, denial and realizing that I must now change my shorts) and before I could even think of doing something, it went out. I went home very carefully and with all of my bits crossed. I purchased a timing belt tool and started to save my funds for the inevitable TB change out.
This past weekend, I decided to see if the light would come back on and went for a drive locally. I went by Bill's home to see how his new seats looked and Bill suggested that we have a look at my TB tension, since it would only take about 30-45 minutes, he said.
Well, the passenger-side rotor's hex bolts had to be removed using 2 vise-grips (those suckers were on there). The tension was checked (right in the middle) and some oil was added to the tensioner. The belt looked OK for now, a little dusty and the teeth looked and felt like they were wearing normally.
I know that this is not new and Bill has helped me many, many times in the past, but it still must be said that I very much appreciate Bill's helpfullness and willingness to drop everything and get his hands dirty on 928s other than his own.
Thanks again Bill.

Bill "Yoda" Ball helps out so many 928ers.... It seems 99% of the time he is working on someone elses 928.....of the many times I have been to his house I think I've only worked on his a couple times! Needless to say I owe him many many hours of labor!!
