Several good 928 buys (IMNSHO)
There have been several threads lately about the value of 928s. I thought most opinions were bunk, no offense intended. If you haven't checked out Stan at Exclusive Motors' offerings lately, go do that and see what I'm talking about. He's got four 928s that I think are priced just right, given a little wiggle room for deal-making. For guys unwilling to buy a "To Do" list, these are clean, complete, ready-to-run cars, no junk, no chintz, and no, I'm not on the payroll: http://www.exclusive-motors.com
Hell, I'm even tempted to pony up for that white gold '86 911! Beautiful car!

The silver w/red interior is trashed even for $9K. A rear leather panel goes for about $2200 I believe. Updating the interior alone would kill the bank not too mention any mileage related components/repairs that may need attention.
The white unite looks OK. 95,000 miles and listed for $15K.
The black 5-speen manual w/110,000 miles isnt any steal of a deal for $18K. Plus it has an engine replacement?
I think the best deal there is the black auto w/43,000 miles and even then its had repaint and its still listed for $16K.
And it seems several 87/88 MY are currently available from various sources.
Maybe its me but I dont see any smoking deals here. I don't know Stan but I would 'PROBABLY' never buy a dealer sold 928 again

If its setting on a dealer lot with a sticker of $15k, deduct for wiggle room, work done by the dealer, dealer overhead, and you get what the PO was handed a check for, and thats what a street price is all about. Many areas don't have a dealer like this one, and the trade in offers are quite brutal on any car more than 10 years old.
Dealers sell cars at a premium because they offer essential services to many buyers, and they know how to sell a car, and present themselves readily to the public 7 days a week. I don't need any of the dealer services, and the only case where I might be tempted to buy a used car from a dealer would be if they had EXACTLY what I was looking for in the sort of "very good" but not so good as to make the price too high (I don't need low miles, etc.) condition.
