Default Sorry - another wheel question!

Hi all,

I found a 4 wheel and tyre set (used but good) for quite low money. They measure 8" x 18" with a ET67 offset on all 4, tyres are 255/55/ZR/18.

Car is an '89 S4 Auto.

If I got this right, the fronts will be just over 1/2" nearer the wheel arch lip, while the rears will need a 12mm spacer. Is that correct?

I'm not big on huge wide tyres, but like the style and price of these ones.

Thanks in advance for all advice,

Ian

Those wheels probably comes from an SUV considering the side wall tire height.
They will make the car higher and the wheel circuimstance greater.
(not sure if I spelled that right,...)

Good point. They don't look like Cayenne wheels, but then I don't know the Cayenne option list.

The tires are all wrong they are 29 inch diameter the correct is about 25 inch diameter so the car would be two inches higher the speedometer woud read off by about 14 % and it would look really really stupid

plus a 255/55 tire on a 8" rim is really stretching it......

The high aspect ratio 55 means the sidewall height is about 55% of the 255mm width of the tire at the widest point and NOT TREAD WIDTH. The tall side wall will deflect much more than a short one so rim width is not as critical and handling is far less of a design goal. These are truck tires after all !

Technically, they fit (save the fronts sticking out a bit), and you don't need a spacer, but they would look better with one. But with those tires, you're speedo will read 51MPH when you're true speed will be 60MPH. With an 18" rim, an aspect ratio of 35 would be more appropriate.

Still, another time maybe.

The ET for the fronts should be close to perfect with another tire.
Rear is a bit narrow rim for my taste though.

Thinking about it after some caffeine, I really need to prioritise my TT bearings, a proper polish and a couple of new tyres first. Then the MAF....
