Default Torque Tube-Do I have one??

Does a 1990 GT 5 speed manual have a torque tube, or only auto trans models?? Just wondering if it's one less thing to worry about. Thanks, Shawn.

All running 928's have them. It's basically a drive shaft except that a drive shaft technically exits the transmission. Since we have transaxles (tranmission is at the back of the car) they call the shaft that connects the engine to the transmission a torque tube becasue it is housed inside a tube. Sorry, you can't dodge that bullet.

Do you have one? - Yes you do.

Do you have to worry? - Probably not. Manuals seem less prone to tt bearing failure than autos.

The thing you definitely don't have to worry about is the flexplate causing thrust bearing failure, you have a clutch instead.
