Default 928 Winter Option

Many years ago I heard of a very bizarre option from the factory for the 928. I often wondered if it was truly an option, or someone's vivid imagination.

Ever heard of the sand dispenser for the 928? You would fill up a couple of hoppers in the rear fenders and when needed, it would drop some quanity of sand in front of the rear tires, to deal with icy road conditions.

Fact, or fiction?

Thanks in advance!

Dan,

You mean like on a train?

That sounds too wild to be true. Kind of James Bond like though.

"... Fill the gas, check the oil, wash the windows, and could you check the sand too please?"

Don't listen to that Bailey feller, he don't know squat about 928s. The sand holders are under the dilithium crystal holders and are activated by the same lever that engages the warp drive.

Ernest,

Is that what that mystery button is for...

Dan,

What would you need sand for in CA?

Well,--you just never know from Porsche! If they think they can get $1000 for it they're going to try it! (But I had to ask!)
