Hi John,

Thanks. I spoke to someone up north about that (Dave H?) he said there's a mileage restriction of like 2k miles per year here in NJ. Mine is a DD, so it's not an option, I don't think.

I'm still going up to the Poconos tonight even with the failed inspection sticker on there (I'm getting used to the splash of red color). I'll be checking out what I can on Saturday night or Sunday I think. Unfortunately, unless I find a smoking gun like a bad reading on the MAF or 02 sensor, it's going to be trial and error at the inspection station.
So far I've been improving each time, so maybe next time it'll get through and I can concentrate on the next thing, and the next...

I'll also give the leakdown test a shot, I've seen some posts on how to go about that. I'm hoping that it's something simple. Since I managed to get the NOx better by a lot just by finding some vacuum leaks, I'm hoping it will be something similar like cleaning/adjusting some things that have been neglected.

Thanks again.
Hey Mike, you could try www.nordskogperformance.net for gauges. Carl at 928 Motorsports uses them in his kits. Nordskog does analog and digital gauges, and the digitals are very nice. Kevin and I even got them to custom make a high pressure one for us that reads up to 100 pounds in .5 pound increments, and they didn't even charge us extra! Plus they offer a great warranty. Highly recommend them.

But if you want that one, it's not the one on their website, which only reads in 1 pound increments (PN B2534). You'd have to ask them special for it...call Phil Beutz and tell him you want the gauge they sold to Kevin and Leslie in NJ (PN M8102-RB).

The difference between ours and the other 100 pounder they sell is not only the increments of measurement. Ours is sturdy enough to withstand pressures well above 100 psi without hurting the gauge itself, whereas they told us that the other one might have issues if we went over 100 psi with it. Considering that car is boosted, and it was reading 55 psi at idle, we felt it would be smart to have the best we could get. That may be more than you need right now...

Multiple choices of LED light colors too. Who could ask for anything more?

Leslie,

Thanks, I'll check on that.

I know it's too much for now, but too much is always a nice thing to add whenever you get a chance. Right now I'm not planning any kind of boost. I'm not upgrading anything under the hood until I can get through inspection. Since you're from NJ too, you know what I'm up against.

Yes, I do...though fortunately we have a friend in the business who is able to help us over the hurdles.

I looked into the collectors car thing too a while back...2500 miles per year limitation in NJ. Definitely not good enough for a daily driver.
