First time driving my 928 since March
I just picked up my car and drove it today for the first time since early March. I put it in the shop to have new Eibach springs, Koni adjustable shocks, all polyurethane bushings and minor other things. I asked the shop (friends) to change all of the fluids, they drained the oil and found milky foam in it. So they proceeded to check leakdown and compression and found a blown head gasket. So in the process of repairing this, I also changed the motor mounts and the ISV and all of the vacuum hoses. The heads were warped and one had a small crack under Magnaflux and had to be machined and new valve guide seals replaced. Along with this the oil leaks were fixed. It is now back together and home with me. What a difference the modifications made. The handling is so stable that it feels like the car is not moving. I will always have a 928 in the garage. I missed it so much.

Maybe I missed some earlier, related posts, but you seem remarkably calm for someone who just dumped a boatload of cash and waited a very long time to get their car back on the road!
Must be the Lord of Bwaaahh shining mightily on thee! Feels good, doesn't it?!?

'I'm thinking that bill was... *gulp* almost more than the car is worth.'
Ah, but isn't there a difference between value and replacement cost? My car was technically almost a total when I got it (if you asked an insurance adjuster) but I wouldn't take a half a dozen new Ford Focuses (foci?) for my 22 year old shark right now.
It was clearly a long and difficult road back to the street but it sounds like it was worth it.

It was an insane amount of money, but it could have been worse, I received some big breaks on labor costs from this shop. I also received the car for almost free.

I admire your patience and your pocketbook! Glad it's back in your possession and you are in the driver's seat.
BTW - Send me a PM if you run across any more "almost free" cars; I'm all over that!
