You have several options, but as you know they all take different amounts of time and money.
Having to replace the motor (or block) sucks no matter how you look at it.

good point - maybe just from the oil pump or mains??? a comp ck would be interesting, might get by w/just a bottom end and fresh pump if the bores didn't get thrashed...

I'm sorry to hear this, Dennis! Hopefully you can find a somewhat affordable solution, or maybe take that opportunity to make any mods you would have wanted to do anyway.
