Default No Heat

I'm having the oppesite problem of most others when it comes to the HVAC topic, In the '82 I'm not getting any heat even when I put the slider all of the way up to 85. The fans and A/C work fine.

What might be the problem? I pulled out the controller unit and cleaned the contacts and checked the conections.

I did search but like I said above it seem that there is usually to much heat.

Thanks.

Has the heat EVER worked for you ?? because often people wire the heater valve shut or block the heater hose JUST to turn off the heat. If you unhook the vacumn to the heater valve it defaults to OPEN

It worked last winter, which was the last time I had it on, although I've always had to turn it up to 80. If I set it to anything less the air would be luke warm.

Pull off the lower air cleaner box, and watch for the heater valve actuator to cycle ( on a warm engine) as you move the temp control slider ... the bottom lever must be on econo or auto mode.
The acid test is what Jim is telling you - pull the vac line off the valve to see if it opens.

OK then unhook the vacumn to the valve and plug the line as a test and see if you get good heat. If so then you know that the valve is not being told to open which points to the climate control unit in the dash as not working properly.

Also it could be the heater control motor (can't remember the name) but it's by your right knee on a LHD car behind the console side. They stick/break sometimes and you get ccccccold no matter what your vacuum operated heater valve does.
