After looking at the picture of your front hose I checked mine and it looked o.k. After I pulled it away from the oil filler neck, it was exactly like yours.

Can you explain what exactly you purchased for 10 bucks? The cheapest line is the crossover in front, the one pictured that rubs on the oil filler neck. It is $21.67 from Porsche over the net.

I've wanted to replace mine on both cars since I was at Shane's place this summer; however, I have learned that the lines that come upto the engine from the back are NLA. To replace them means rebuilding them.


If we are rebuilding, I would ask why we don't use braided steel instead of rubber?
The race guys use it, then it should be safe and reliable. If it is just cost - I would prefer spending extra $$$ on fuel lines that will last longer and be more reliable.

Ya, you cant see it unless you pull it away.

That would be a very bad place to have a fuel leak because of the distributors are a very good source of ignition (Think Jaguar V12 and all of the fire problems they have had, we had one catch on fire in the shop) plus the fuel could spray back on to the ex manafolds.

Has anyone written up a list of lines that need to be replaced? All of us should get rid of the old lines this winter so our sharks (and families) remain safe in the spring!

Give Carl at 928 motorsports a call, he has some nice fuel line kits for the early 928s.

As someone mentioned, some hoses are no longer available, apparently. For example, the Horseshoe shaped hose at the back top side of the '85S engine. I don't know how a shop could make this hose with that bend in it? If someone knows who might have this hose, I'm interested. Maybe even a used one?

That must be a recently NLA part Harvey, because I got one for my 928.

Unless you are talking about the other line coming out of the fuel pressure regulator, the one without fittings attached, there you can get some 8mm high pressure fuel line from Carl at 928 motorsports to do the job. But the horseshoe on between the regulator and damper in the back was availbable when I got them last year.

That twisted "S" hose on the rear (from FPR to bracket) is $8.00 from 928 Intl. - 928 110 359 04

Okay, that be the cheaper, cheapest one... FOR AN '87! And its just a piece of hose. For an '88 its 10X more and then there are 3 more to buy!

IMHO the hose connecting the two rails at the front should be a rigid metal line. Hoses should not be made to curve at the ferrule, even though it looks gentle. A metal line could be made so as to permanently avoid chafing anywhere, where its more difficult with a hose.
