Default Early project car, wich model to choose?

Hi

Since I drive my 1990 S4 Auto as my daily driver, I need a car that can blow my socks off in the weekends

So I'm looking to buy an early 928 (euro) for a long term project. Only 1980 or older (because of silly import taxes in Norway).

The Euro specs are:
928 = 4.5L 240 HP
928S = 4.7L 300 HP

- Can i make a OB shark faster than my S4 with NA tuning without braking the bank, or is SC/Turbo to road to go?

- And based on the answer to my previous question, wich engine is most suited?

- Are there big differences in the chassis/brakes on the 928/928S ?

- And finaly, what does it take to put a later S engine in the pre 80 928?

get an '80 euroS and add headers... you should match the hp but come a bit short in the torque dept

If car has to be registered before January 1st 1981 you do not have much choice. S had been in the marked under year and half and only well under 2000 were on plates by new year. They are out there but choice is much more limited than 4.5L with over 10000 4.5L made up to that point in time.

One thing to consider is what you plan on doing with brakes. If you want to install S4 or GTS fronts you are better of with ROW 4.5L which was done before early 1980 MY. They used non S brakes. First chassis number to get S stuff was 00750 IIRR

To your questions:
-on a track, probably, in a straight line, probably not. Weight loss is the cheapest form of tuning
-M28/11 M28/12 (early euro S)
-as Erkka said, OBs are easier to upgrade, but with some weight loss and improved cooling, the S brakes will do. You will probably want aftermarket springs/shocks/sway bars anyway
-nothing, direct fit

If you remove AC and air pump, get headers and an improved system all the way back, fine tune fuel pressure and ignintion on an otherwise good euro S engine, wou will likely exceed s4 power.
