Would a 968 be welcome at this event? I couldn't convince my dad to drive the 928 down (maybe because it's still in pieces), but the 968 is tip-top. It kinda looks like a 928... though I'd call it more of a dolphin than a shark...

Everyone is welcome, there are many who can't drive their 928s for many reasons (too far, not running, garage queens, etc). It for the people and the cars .... so come on down and enjoy the sights. Just don't fight for the front parking place!

The www.Sharktoberfest.com website is taking care of a lot of the thread traffic that used to happen here. Dan listened to the questions being asked regularly, and puts all the info on the website. Kinda streamlines the process a bit.
There is a pile of background activity that goes into planning any event of this size. Dan Bise has been slaving to get the arrangements in place to make this a fun event for all. Mark and the team at 928 International have been doing similar stuff on their side too. Mark does a pretty extensive e-mail and snail-mail promotion that targets thousands of owners, many of whom are not Rennlist or 928OC members. That's just a small part of what it takes for 928 Int'l to make this all happen. We will miss Keith's vocal enthusiasm and promotion of the event. But don't be lead to believe that this year's event will be any less fun for all participants because there's less Rennlist traffic. On top of all that, Dan's time is precious, yet he's squeezing his own personal and professional schedule to make all this happen for you all.
The conflict with the Frenzy schedule is not SoCal's. Frenzy started out as an event in early September on the other side of the country. Sharktoberfest happens on the third weekend of October, and so far that schedule has been mantained. Lots of events have moved around on the calendar for lots of reasons. SITM is now in June, almost two months later than it was first scheduled back in nineteen ninety something. The Devek Days Gathering moved from the first weekend in August to September this year, crowding Frenzy's traditional timing. Frenzy was resuscitated very late this year, and that also helped them to move their dates back into October to allow time to line up the locations and infrastructure necessary. They just happend to land on Sharktoberfest weekend, probably because of availability of facilities and suport. For many upper east-coast owners, anything later starts getting in to serious winter issues.
So--
Big event, overflow parking worked out, no registration fee, tons of fun. All in response to attendees' feedback. And a free lunch!

Thanks Bob, it just seems that this thread would be on page five by now with people exchanging travel plans, requesting road conditions, last minute car fixes, and the talking "smack" camaraderie that comes with an event this size.

Perhaps it is a bit like New Years ,Christmas ,or the 4Th of July. You pretty much know that it is coming up. You told yourself after last year that you did not want to miss this year and might just have been looking forward to it, planning for it for the last 11 months All 928 enthusiasts are welcome with or without their 928. Just a great chance to get together with a whole bunch of 928 Owners.

Misc. Questions Answered
There was a question about event T-shirts. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the 928 Owners Club, there will be an allocation of event T-shirts available on a first come, first served basis on Saturday morning. For those that arrive later, there will be lots of other stuff, so no worries!
There was another question about car washing. There will be hoses and wash materials available at the hotel at our reserved parking area.
I will also post updates on the web site with maps to local alternate wash facilities, maps to 928 International from the hotel, maps of the fun drive, maps to the dinners and other info. so watch for those to be posted in the coming days.

We wouldn't miss it for 'nuthin! This will be our 3rd time at the event.
This time, however, I will not be able to attend (somebody has to stay behind and answer phones!) so I am sending our best "man" for the job. If you have called here to discuss shipping or payment, then you have spoken to our Connie McNabb, shown here at 928's on the Autobahn with Mark.
I thought it was 'bout time she meet Tom, Jim, Renee, and the gang. Besides - she's kinder on the eyes than I am.
She grew up in So Cal, so this is a mini get-to-go-home-and-visit-my-sister deal for her. She's looking forward to meeting all of you.
