85 928 - Replacing Digital Clock
I'm not crazy about the digital clock in the 928s. I'm curious if anyone makes a conversion to replace the LCD clock in the 85 928 with a an analog clock. Or, is the later analog clocks an easy swap? It looks like VDO clocks from the earlier years won't fit the in the space.
By the way, thanks to Rennlist for help and advice. It looks like I've bought my first 928, but I will wait until all the money has changed hands and it's in my garage before I post pictures or get too excited.

There are two routes you can take:
Switch from the rechtangular digital clock to the later style analog clock. It's an easy swap - just requires some rewiring. The trouble: The later clock is over $300, and used ones are rare and expensive, too.
A less expensive route is to switch to one of Jager's round clocks. This requires modification of your center console insert to mount the clock, and using an overlay piece to cover the old cutout. However, it looks quite good when completed.
I'm a Jager rep, so feel free to bombard me with specific questions on this conversion.

I will happily sell you the digital. It should be working. It may take a while, though, since first I will have to wait to get the car, then I will have to drive it like a lunatic, and then, I will have to be ready to start fooling around in there.
Thanks to everyone else for the info. I like those Jaeger clocks and am not too concerned about having a Porsche clock.

The Jager clocks are awesome!! just installed one a few months back with the optional backlighting & it looks sweet!! Easy to do as well. Guess I'll have to sell my digital clock now to add back to the 928 fund!

leperboy,
From my experience, changing the clock on your "new purchase", should be pretty far down the list of things you do. Focus on those things that "must" be done, then things that "should" be done. Only then, the things you would "like" to see done. That being the case, the clock will be swapped in about 3 years.

Unless the wife, who's 928 approval can be at times impt., puts in a request that such an item be moved up the "to-do" list, to update the look of said 928 for her viewing pleasure when she's in the vehicle.......

Yep. Just about 3 years after I got my 928, I swapped the $%^#&!! digital clock which I hated, for a later analog clock.
Now I get to go through the whole process again, because I have a new list of 'must do' items.

Ross, the only truth about high cost of Jager products for me is that everytime I start another Jager "wanna buy list" it quickly adds up to more than I can afford! I would strongly defend their prices though cause they are the ONLY ones on the planet that offer many of the great 928 products they have for our Sharks. And they are great to deal with too! So I would encourage all shark owners to support them all you can afford and you will NOT be disappointed with their products! When I recently asked my wife what she wanted for HER birthday, she replied, "why dont you buy some more of the interior wood pieces for the 928"! What a wife!!!
