TW,
So they do not auto discharge as is 'sort of' indicated in the diagram...?

I assumed they were longer than that too...

G'day Alan,

The piece underneath, that closes with negative pressure, has a very narrow opening to release debris when the car is shut off.

Bug bits, plant matter and gritty sand are to be found every time I pop off the catchers. The dustbuster seems to do a pretty good job of throwing anything with a bit of size/mass and my air filter only ever has finer particles on it. Some larger pieces do get through but nowhere near as much as I've seen on the air filters of other sharks.

When you look at the photo you can see that there really is no way for the tube to be longer. The photo I posted is actually pre-MM replacement and the problem of squeezing the forward tube under the cross brace is even more pronounced now. When I first got the car I thought about ditching the crapcatcher but knowing how much junk it keeps away from the filter I can see that its probably worthwhile.

I'll get it sorted the way I like it one of these days - might even paint it red.

Never saw that before.
Thanks.

thats neat. Basically a passive centrifugal scrubber; in industry they use powered versions to remove sediments in wastewater.

Thanks Porken. I'll make some calls tomorrow and see what the availability and cost is.

Much appreciated.

1) Click and drag on the P/N above and copy it to the clipboard.
2)Go to our web site (I'll bet that you can find the url somewhere nearby!)
3) Click on the image to enter the main page.
4) click in the search box in the upper right corner, then paste the number in the box. Remove all of the spaces in the number.
5) Click on the green arrow to search.

The part number comes up, and shows a cost of $47.64. Unfortunately, there is no way to know if the part is still available other than for Jeannie to call and see if there are still any in the system.

Our web site lists EVERY part number in the Porsche system for the 928, with prices. The price may have increased in the weeks since last loaded, but are usually correct. Note that these may not be the prices that your dealer will charge you...
