We can help 928guy learn to be more cost effective (as much as possible), learn new ways of maintenance, find parts and help him vent his frustrations with projects; however, there is a certain amount of "are you nuts - do it this way and save a bundle" that he will be subjected to and this is really pretty normal.

All of us have eaten "humble pie" at certain times simply because we didn't see a point or idea. Those are the times he will learn just how valuable this forum is. When we say straighten him out we mean help him.

BTW - If 928guy doesn't have a lift, he will want a pair or Mr. Porkens lift bars to get his 928 up on jack stands. There great! No affiliation with Ken - Just love his product.

928Gal, I didn't mean to imply that he was going to get a beating from us as a group. Actually the contrary. I would expect 99 out of 100 posts (or more) responding to your husband would be supportive, informative or non-judgemental. Every once-in-a-while though, there'll be a 'stray' post from someone who's had a bad day or who's thoughts, demeanor, humor or character don't translate to text as intended. As long as your guy can take that odd post here or there he'll be just fine.

Well, all I can say is I will try to get him to come hang around. I guess he can take a little ribbing. LOL. I'll just tell him he's got it comin' and to suck it up!

And no, he doesn't have a lift, he's working in a teeny tiny one-car garage that just about fits him and his car at the same time...I'll be sure to let him know about Mr. Porkens lift bars.

advise about as much as 'vend').

I wouldn't expect a 928Guy dogpile by this forum. we're
a village, of odd, open people with peculiar tastes in cars,
willling to share our + and -'s and learn from automotive
experiences of others, including 928Guy. No doubt he knows
a thing or two, or has come across something, we need
to know/hear/see.

Search the 928RoadHelp list - find other NJ/N'east 928 nuts to
commune/commiserate with.

p.s. BTW, there aren't too many 'normal' folks on this list.

Porken is one of the inventors in the forum. He makes and sells lift bars (and a few other things) for the 928.

My tradgedy

At that point I think I had something like $22-$24k in this 928 (my first).

$350 worth of fuel lines would have prevented this disaster.

Took me a day to swallow my pride, before I posted the results of what happened and why. The responces were quite heartwarming.

I also out of love and commitment to the car thought I would rebuild her, but the simple fact is I can buy another one just like her, that doesn't need a whole "make over" for less then a paint job would cost.

Good luck with your 928guy, what he needs to do is drive the current 928 to get returns out of it. Next he should put off doing upgrades on what he has till he know what exactly his goals are?

When new guys show up here looking for advice on which model year 928 they should buy, I ask them what is their horse power goals...
What are they normally aspirated...
What are they with boost...
Then we steer them to the right MY's that will put them the closest to that goal!
Get them there cheeper
Get them there quicker
And with the least amount of heartbreak.

Sounds to me like your 928Guy would be an asset to this forum considering all he has been through so far. BTDT experience on these cars can be very valuable to others.
