I can't afford to sell it, upgrading

I ordered a new cat and it came w/o gaskets, now I'm willing that maybe I should have asked, or maybe someone should have asked me, depends on which side of the counter you are on. Seems to me I gotta have them one way or the other and why would I then want to go to another counter? The mechanic said it looked like it was built with found parts, w/cans of different diameters, so I'm sending it back. So it's raining, my car is sitting out for another 2 weeks and I'm starting over; As long as I have to do that I thought I will order Ketchmi's X pipe, about a hundred bucks more, and includes gaskets! Oh, it's in stock, ships immediately. I spent so much time calling around and looking at pictures on ebay that didn't have the same air pump access, yet claimed to be "bolt on" that I just said "screw it." Garrity was helpful on the phone and not in some big rush and shouting to his assistant. I'll keep you posted.

Yes...you might as well join the rest of us. At some point, you CAN'T sell because you're in way too deep. However, when someone gets totally fed up with 928s and decides to "take the hit and sell" the rest of us perk up and we try to beg money to buy the bargain. Good luck. Your car sounds like a great car. The X pipe is a good addition.

Steve - I JUST went through the same thing. Always wanted an S4 and newer for the body style... When I realistically priced mine out, I realized that I had a very trustworthy, sorted-out car which was worth little or at least less than what it was 'worth' to me. I'd get in it right now and start driving cross-country with no hesitation. 'Upgrading' (if that is the right word) to an S4 or newer would mean putting in a good chunk of $$ to get the newer style, then most-likely having to do the same things I have already done to mine (MAF, intake hoses etc...) resulting in even more $$, just to get it to the same level as what I have now.
Of course, there are still things I feel I must do to my car ('new' recovered dash, new 928S steering wheel, new shocks, etc. - it never really ends) but for me, part of the fun is working and upgrading this car. I just put a Motorsport x-pipe on last weekend and love it
I don't know what I'd do if I had a 'perfect' car that needed nothing ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
p.s. Nice looking 968 Harvey!

My 928 SHOULD be drivable anywhere...but I'm confident that the 968 WOULD go coast to coast with minimal if any problems. I don't have that same level of confidence in the 928 but I've not tried it out either whereas I did drive the 968 3K miles in one trip. It's just that I've had to sort out so many gremlins in the 928 that at some point you lose a little trust. Like the last time I drove to Seattle (300 mi) the aux fan turned itself on during the night and drained the battery...then more recently...the alarm system started going off by itself at 1 a.m. in the morning....nothing big...just un-nerving stuff. But, mechanically, I feel that it's solid..althought the windscreen washer just quit squirting... but it's fun to fix (sometimes). I have new motor mounts but am waiting until the others to wear out before replacing them. They say that exercise will be great fun.
