Climate control problems, please help!
My 1983 has a new issue. Whenever the climate control is turned on (no matter if it is for a/c or heat) it blows heat. Not only heat, but hot heat. Before Saturday, the a/c worked, but wouldn't vary in temp, even when the temp control was changed on the dash. It was either cold or heat, depending on where it was adjusted. The fan works fine, as does the air flow (bi level, defrost, etc). I now have heat all the time. The PO mentioned a sensor under the hood that may be the issue why the a/c temp was not adjustable ( I planned to fix it later). Could this be a sensor, if not, then what? Please help, I am newer to owning a 928.

Common problems on the 928 HVAV system:
- Vacuum leaks.
- There is a sensor string that helps control the temp setting - the most common problem is a bad connection on the exterior temp sensor, located under the left headlamp. This will cause the off-on temp control that you have.
- Faulty heater control valve. If the vacuum is OK (the heat is turned off by applying vacuum to the valve), the valve may be bad.
If you will send me an email, I will send you a detailed paper on the 928 HVAC system. The address is techAT928gt.com - change AT to @.
Let us know if we can help - we can supply ANY new part available from Porsche for your 928, plus many aftermarket and OEM parts and accessories.

I am not near my car. What does the sensor look like and how would I access it to see if that is the issue (from under the car or under the hood)?

I had a similar problem on my 82. Almost went crazy trying to find it too! There is a wiring harness connector straight above the accelerator where the IIRC the external temp sensor passes through. The connector on my car had been knocked slightly so it was on there cockeyed. I pushed it on and everything worked after that. Hope it's that simple for you.
