Default 1981 928S Front Bumper Shocks

How can you tell if you need to replace your front bumer shocks? Is it absolutely a replacement after a minor impact? Lastly, anyone have a spare set for sale - I want to have a pair handy when I disassemble the front for some work? TIA Andrew

I got a pair of used shocks from 928International and noticed that the tip of one shock had a rubber neck while the other did not - I am wondering if the rubber neck is needed for a good fit or whether I can strip it off the other one. Any thoughts? Andrew
