for sale: '93 GTS, Zermatt silver, light grey/classic grey int., AT, 78K, $25K
I have come across a '93 automatic GTS in Zermatt silver with a light grey/classic grey combo interior with just 78,500 miles on it for $25,000. I was actually very interested in the car and was about to purchase it, but am currentely wrapped up in a nightmare of an investment property that there will be absolutely NO profit made on whatsoever. A deal was about to close on the property, but fell thru at the last minute. Otherwise, I would own this car right now. It happens to be my favorite color combo as well.
It has a completely varifyable service history and the last two owners were both doctors who knew each other and also had it serviced by the same facility. I personally think this facility is very overpriced, but it has been serviced to the teeth...............with one exception, it's due for the t/belt, water pump change. The only other flaws, considering it's a southwestern car is that some of the paint has chipped off of the wing, roof and B pillar. There is no Carfax history of any accidents and I don't believe there to be any as well.
It has alot of options such as heated seats on both sides, lumbar, factory CD-2 in-dash CD instead of the irritating rear CD changer, plus a variety of other well appointed options such as painted center crests etc. It also has a variety of several X and Y leather goodie options. As far as I remember, the visors, A and B pillars, headliner, rear AC cover, and door pulls are leather.
Everything is original including a non-damaged cargo cover, net, pump, spare, tools etc. Actually, now that I think about it, I think the only thing missing is the factory air compressor.
I am not affiliated with the seller in any way and he is a very nice gentleman to deal with. I just feel bad that I am unable to consumate the deal, so therefore, I am trying to spread the word of this car as it was listed somewhere very obscurely.
I'll post all the pics i received from the seller. If your genuinely interested and very serious, PM me and I will give you his number.
Here are the pics: I can only add so many pics per post, so the rest are posted down farther in the thread.

Me too. Bummer. All the goodies passing by....
I surely would like to see the photos of this car, but they don't appear on my screen.
Well, I also hope your property nightmare situation improves. And mine also.

That's all I've got. Nice car, though. It has alot of potential, but unfortunately, I'm just not in a position to buy it for myslef right now.
I certianly hope the seller does not mind me promoting his car. I guess if he sells it off this post, then he'll probably thank me!

Low miler…nice catch…all sharks should be luved!
Cosmetically looks rough but perhaps the price is right for someone willing to spend the time and money.

My paint has issues also. Not as bad as that yet, but in another year or two it will be. My PO used a power buffer to burn some spots on my roof, and it is beginning to deteriorate around them. My car is a driver so I'm not too worried about it yet but it will get ugly soon enough. I guess the only way to avoid that is to buy it new and keep it garaged. I surely like that GTS and the interior colors. A few bucks on cosmetics and I would keep it forever.

isnt there an issue with that specific zermat silver color, i recall hearing about other paint issues on cars with the same paint color, i believe that color uses a different paint system thats apparently not as durable. I think the issue is specific to that color, and i believe thats the only shade that uses this different process, or chemicals or whatever teh difference maybe. Why they did this i have no clue.
But i could be wrong.

What color code it is? If I would have to quess I'd say 92M. At that time Porsche started to use water based paints on some colors. Other manufacturers had serious difficulties with them early on. Did Porsche also?

My '91GT is Zermatt Silver. Most of the car had been repainted before I bought it. The roof was original and looked like primer. I tried to polish it and it looked like polished primer. When I decided to paint the whole car, the roof sanded through to the primer with no effort. I believe that 1991 was one of the first years that Porsche was converting to water based paints. I just bought a 1991 S4 with white paint and it seems perfect and like new, so maybe Zermatt Silver was the only paint with problems? Zermatt Silver was not a 928 standard color and I thought that I had the only one. Now there are 2, I guess. It was available on 911s and 944s. Does anyone know of another 928 this color?
