Mushy brake peddle
Does it ever freaking end?
Started this past weekend jumped in and the peddel nearly sank to the floor......after a few pumps it firmed up but then it was just a real crappy feel
So I assume this is a master cylinder issue......
do i purchase one at the local auto zone?
Is there any special instructions?

The reservoir is holding fluid OK? Mine was like yours when I got it....fluid leaked out of reservoir due to dead grommets. Once I fixed these it was fine. If your reservoir is full and ok....try holding VERY gentle pressure on the pedal - if you can VERY slowly depress it to the floor (or close), but you can get a pedal if you hit it hard , then sounds like the m/cyl cups have worn edges so that fluid will leak past with low pressure, but will seal if shocked.

Does anybody make a rebuild kit for it?

My pedal sometimes travels further than other times, but never to the floor. So far it always stops the car, but sometimes it seams a little softer especially on soft low speed braking. If I release and reapply pressure, it always brakes harder with less pedal travel.
I was thinking MC, but also read about possible wheel bearing wear which could cause some wobble which in turn pushes the pads back so the first attempt is just snuggling up the pads.
Anybody else ever hear about this theory… what is a good method to troubleshoot?

When it comes to brakes there is no messing around. Inspect for leaks and repair as necessary. If you pump a soft pedal and it gets firm and stays firm, most likely causes are air in system or frozen piston or pistons. If you pump a soft pedal and it is not firm or goes to floor, master is leaktng internally and cannot build and hold pressure. These are just the most common symptoms and basic diagnosis. Wheel bearings that are that loose to cause a soft brake pedal is extremely dangerous also.

I 100% agree about not messing with the brakes and will probably replace the MC just to be safe. My pad sensor light came on the other day, so I’ll be replacing those too I guess. Anything else I should consider doing while I’m at it?
Now that I think about it I didn’t describe my situation accurately. I should not have referred to a soft pedal. The feedback is roughly the same… it’s just the amount of travel before the resistance begins varies.
At no time can I get the pedal to travel all the way to the floor and at all times the brakes work on the first try. I recently had suspension inspected and an alignment, no mention of wheel bearings (no noises, no vibrations, and no play in the hub). That was just an intriguing suggestion I read somewhere on here.
I had Terry Heath at EuroMotorworks here in Indy inspect the brakes. He couldn’t replicate what I was feeling so he flushed, filled, and bled the system. I find it odd he didn’t mention needing new pads (I’ll have to double check my invoice with the suggested repair section). They are usually pretty good about suggesting just about everything that could possibly need replacing.
