Default Name that chirping sound!

Now that I'm back to the stock muffler (put it on to get weights right for ride height and alignment), a new sound is coming out of the woodwork on my 90 GT. Specifically, clutch engaged, in 2nd or 3rd gear, 1600 to 2200 rpm, during acceleration only (not coasting or deceleration), sounds like a rapid-fire cricket, from under the car. I don't think it's the throwout bearing since it's only when my foot is off the clutch pedal.

Torque tube? Other driveline? acc belt? Thoughts?

Probably a release bearing. The reason you hear it at lower speeds/rpms is because the car's engine and road noise mask it at higher speeds/rpm.

I had the same issue that was intermittent for years before becoming constant and needing replacement.

Otherwise, I'd get under the car with stethoscope and probe the TT and see if its bearings are chirping.

I had a squeaking noise that started out like yours and got worse after I had just R&R the clutch. It turned out the 2 bolts for the guide tube had backed out slightly and were rubbing on the shaft coupling. YMMV.
