Alternated driving them vs. an early 951

Turbo has suprising acceleration feel when above 3000 rpm and smooth synchros.

928 has ride stability, gearing and steady power. 928 wins!

Ian, that looks cool and would be terrific incorporated into Hans HVAC controller! Where did you get the displays and how much were they?

Hi Carl,

I got the displays from Mouser Electronics (www.mouser.com). The 8-digit display is part # hcms-3972. The 4-digit part #...can't find that at the moment. These are 3.3v parts, and have a serial-interface. I'm controlling them with an ARM micro (Philips/NXP LPC2148). So far, the odometer function works, as well as digital speedometer (I've had it up to 500mph...), analog speedometer (the needle will be driven by the DAC), battery-voltage (ADC), and digital clock. There's an EEPROM for saving the odo/trip values when power is off. I might also hook-up another ADC channel to the water-temp sender.


My old speedo... The "928" in the odo is pure coincidence!

NICE IAN! Would be cool if it displayed PORSCHE at startup for a few seconds!
