Nice repair Denny, I would replace the CPS and keep the one you fixed for a spare.
Whats wrong its about 20 years old and it can fail internally, JMHO

another really stupid 928 spot, the battery wire runs behind the rear suspension AND it has a folded over piece of metal holding it down.......the left hand didn't speak to well to the rights hand.....
A 928 development conversation;
"hey Fritz ,lets build a car!
"we will make it the best ever, uber complex"
'ya ya Heinz ,but what about servicing?'
"dumkoff, Your fired"

3 1/2" Y pipe with more angle has 1inch + clearance from the back line to the pipe
This leave options for anything up to 5 inch out back and still have 1/4 to 1/2inch clearance for clamps etc.

Michael, you need to come borrow the blast cabinet! What year motor, and what's it going into?

Thanks Rob. I would like that. It is an 87 S4 motor. Picture of door I picked up today too.
Edit: It is more than likely going into the 1978 car once my partners Joe and Chris and I accumulate all of the refresh bits, the top and front of motor bits, and MSII and associated triggers. Definitely not before we run the **** out of the CIS motor already in there.
