Brent,
The trick is how to set the gradient that you blur the background with, and how much you blur the background. Some pictures look better with less. Also repeat and do a little gradient blur to the foreground, adds a lot.
The main difference in photoshop tiltshift is the car is all in focus.

Part of why a TT rebuild is a PITA
Yes, it just uses 3 6006 bearings. But ya gotta have a forklift ( ), a drill press, an arbor press, a staking die, a MIG welder, and a decent grinding wheel to get it apart and back together.

RKD,
I get what you're doing and it is very time consuming. Your pics are second to none. I just did a quick one, maybe 15 minutes max with a bad picture. I haven't done any of this for a few years now. Guess I'll spend some time this winter messing with some 928 pictures. Have you done any HDR stuff?

Wade, after some practice you can do this...
I use the pen tool to create an outline that I then use to select the car.
I lightened the picture using the curves adjustment lightening mostly the darker end of the curve.
I also did some lens correction to remove the slight fish eye.

Brent, here is one I did HDR to get more color detail then Tilt Shifted the foreground, background, and cars on either side. The HDR really popped the reflections in the black paint.
