Jim - you badly need new intake tubes... where did you get that intake heat shield over the radiator - custom made? love it...

Has the provent reduced your oil consumption?

Alan
If Dave Roberts ever starts producing his "Blackbird" the new tubes will come then. The intake heat sheild over the radiator is custom made by me. . . fiberglass with a hood crest in the middle. To soon to tell if the provent is helping. I've only put on about 50 miles since installation. I plan to follow up here when I have some definitive feedback.

It would be sooooo cool to blacken the center of the 3-piece. (Photoshop makes nearly anything possible)
Not sure how well wheel paint would hold up. Have heard paint may mask any possible metal cracking.
And powder coating will need proper post coat cleanup of the lug nut collar to allow for proper lug nut tightening. There's story of powder-coated wheel loosening cause the powder coat didn't like being mashed by the lug nuts and needed re-tightening.

Ernest,

Every factory wheel is painted with normal automotive paint. The three secrets to a good paint job is preperation preperation and lastly preperation. If you like the black, go for it.

I suck at the Prep. Sigh.
Peeling paint sucks.

Ernest, looks neat...classic Fuchs-like. I think it'll be tough to prep those for a decent paint or powdercoat job that will survive the heat and elements - particularly on wheels that have been exposed to years of brake dust, salt, etc.
If you were starting with new wheels, that'd be a different story.
(my PS 'what if?'):

I've painted wheels that were 8 years old. They still looked good 2 years later when I sold the car. Sand the wheels by hand with some 120 grit sandpaper, wash at a car wash, rinse throughly, wipe down with alcohol or laquer thinner and paint with a rattle can. If brake dust survives all that then it will hold the paint just as well.

Must Keep Me away from sandpaper. The damage I can do with my uneven sanding.
Even with a sanding block.

Wish they made those car graphic wraps for wheels.
Non-destructive mods are so awesome. Guess that's why everyone laughs at all the exposed wiring on my dash cause I pulled all the power from the cigarette socket.
Presto chango back to stock wiring by pulling just one plug.

Found some more black wheels.

Some say he's the one who packs and ships all the parts.
And that he gargles with nothing but Mobil 1.
We just know him as THOR. (clap clap clap clap)

You don't have to sand the paint off, just scuff it up to get good adhesion of the new BLACK paint. Black will hide all your mistakes.
