Not sure of the cause but I and fire department agreed it was electrical, no forensics performed as car is on it’s way to Coparts, might be rebuildable but way beyond my skills or costs.

Thanks to all who reached out with condolences it was a very bad day, fortunately and thankfully no one was hurt and car did not ignite in the garage.

Nice! Pained/p-coated Panamera S. New rubber is quite the investment these days. Great choice, but don't expect longevity...

Holy Crap!!!! Losing a car like that is one thing, the idea that it could happen while in the garage terrifies me.

On the bright side, a lot of good parts that will go on to help keep other 928's on the road. Did your insurance company have an option to buy it back?

On another note, my plans for a quick morning drive went down the tubes. At least these rears on almost on the wear bars and were going to get tossed in spring anyway.

I was not offered any buy back option from the carrier but to be honest I did not ask about one, after some 25 years with Heacock this was my first loss American Modern the carrier handled this with efficiently and a professional process, hope I never need them at this level again 🙏🤞

you can go 4,000 miles on that tire if you dont make it smoke.
I don't think these tires even have 4,000 miles on them and they're down to the wear bars
