Default Center "Armrest" Console

Ok, I’d like a center console for my 78 Shark but searching the sponsor’s pages the sponsors and can’t seem to find a nice center console.

I found an original one on ebay for about $200 that seems kind of pricy but it’s brown so I can use it as I want black. I also checked Paul’s (Champagne) leather works, but while they are really sweet – I’m not sure I really need anything that fancy. Of course if that’s my only option I’d go with the black one with the Porsche crest tooling – but again kind of pricy.

Thoughts? Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Center console when available new ranged in price from maybe $1,800 to $3,697.... so the center console may have cost more than that MGB did new !

Default don't have one....

I'm in the same place with my '80... as my car didn't have one stock. I thought I may be able to find something aftermarket to put there that would have CD or beverage holding capability rather than the smallish stock unit.

Anyone installed anything aftermarket there?

Can't recall who? But someone installed their Ipod hook-up in theirs.

If I find one I was thinking about installing one of those XM satellite radio units.

I have a console P/N 928.555.701.02 in black it has a small hole on the top not bad about .060" x .090" and a small scuff. Otherwise it is en very good condition. Still has the cloth top but no Cassette pieces. The hole can be repaired with a vinyl repair kit which I could throw in.

If anyone is interested I would take $100 for it Shipped.

It's a cassette box, BTW. If you use it as an armrest, it will crack down the center of the lid. Plus it's too low, and looks like an add-on.

Someone should make a swoopy-factory-look-leather-mid-console-arm-rest that connects the front console to the rear console. There'd have to be different versions, or a adjustable piece at the rear for the different year converter humps. Maybe make it adjustable in height, too.
