Thanks guys! It has been running slowly for me too, which is puzzling, since it is all Apple proprietary stuff, which I would expect to run together beautifully. Perhaps it is congestion, as Andrew suggests.

Bigmac-- to the non-playing soundclip issue...I don't have an answer. I thought it might not play on non-licensed machines, but wasn't sure. I guess I'll try to convert it from the iTunes encoded format to .mp3 and use a different player. Sorry.
