Looking at renting a Garage, Advice/Precautions?
So living in the city and going to school means I'm an apartment dweller. The place I just moved into is actually a 3 floor house, with me & gf living on 1st floor. What this means for my 928 is no garage. Last summer I rebuilt my engine in the street, and caught my fair share of crap from certain neighbors, police. Since I moved in, I haven't worked on the car, but I have driven it around a little. For the most part it sits in front of my place when not being driven. This is a quiet, one-way residential street. I have lived here for about a month, and my shark has already been reported once to the police for not being moved for 7 days! I was fuming, but whatever. After scraping the ugly sticker of my window, I began searching for a garage to rent. I finally found one for a decent price that is walking distance. I plan on renting it just until I complete my to do list, (two months max, but you all know how that goes) then the car will go into DD duty!
I am going to look at the garage tomorrow, BUT, what advice do you guys have about keeping your baby in a stranger's garage? I will have a remote for the door, but the ad does not specify I will share with someone. What precautions should I take so that the guy doesn't hual my car away to a chop shop? Am I paranoid?? AFAIK this is a residential garage, not a huge parking structure.

its a garage.. not much to watch out for... but i guess if i were going to rent a garage away from my house. I would worry about the following.. security... gunna have tools in there and tools hock real easy making them quick dope cash. then power.... does the garage have power? if so who pays? then what about water? what about if its attached to other garages for rent? what moron is next door leaving all his chemical soaked rags in the corner to catch fire? they are listed in my order of importance

Rental garages almost NEVER allow you to do ANY WORK on the car at the garage it is ONLY storage space. So the questions of light power tool storage are moot...
