Default Where is the Temp II Sensor

I have a 1990 928 GT. I want to replace the Temp II sensor, but cannot determine which one it is.

If I stand at the front of the car looking at the engine, is the Temp II on the left or the right of the Oil Fill tube?

What is the other temp sensor for?

It's the one with an Bosch/AMP injector style connector. The other temp sensor has standard blade connectors and is for the temp guage and electric fans.

On a '90 GT both the temperature sensors (should) have the Bosch/AMP plastic connector. The Temp II is on the passenger side of the crossover. Do you know that it's bad? You can check it for 'goodness' with a multi-meter and the WSM. The other sensor - on the driver's side - feeds the instrument cluster.

Thanks for the replies. Not sure if it's bad, actually, I'm pretty sure it's not. Noth the temp II and the MAF are less than two years old. I ordered this as a test, since 928 Specialists have been back ordered on the MAF sensors for the past 4 months.

I tested the sensor a couple of times with a multimeter and it seemsed to be working, but then again the engine problem is intermittant. I replaced both the MAF and the Temp II sensor origniall at the same time. I have troubleshot everything else.

What more precisely is the intermittent fault that you are seeing?

Quick question ... the "other sensor - on the driver's side - feeds the instrument cluster" ... does it have three pins? Are they marked in any way? What's the part number for that one?

I think on 90+ models, this sensor should have three pins, but all I've been able to find is a two-pin version, even with the part number that's supposedly the newer type.

Thanks, any help appreciated!

On my 90 GT, both the temp sensors look identical (At least they do without removing them)

Two pins on each. Damn hard to tell apart.
