I think 8500 is a fair price for a car sorted out like yours.

We don't have a specific day, but we do need to vacate our current home by August 31st. I am sure it will come down to the wire.

Incidentally, though no one has pulled the trigger yet, my Ebay que shows 26 "watchers" and as can be seen, over 500 viewers. None of this means anything of course. It could have 100 watchers, but that doesn't mean anyone will buy it. As Brian said in an early post, it will be interesting to see if anyone steps up to buy a car like this. It is worth way more though....but THAT oesn't mean anything either.

Very nice car! Great price too. You'll sell it.

Well, I just checked and there are 30 people watching the auction. I think most if not all may be from the Rennlist just to see what happens.

I have gotten several messages, but 99% of them tell me they have a 928 also and want to know how I did something on my car or where I got the parts or nice car...wish mine looked like that.

It seems the only people that know and appreciate these cars are other 928 owners. Just look at that low mile euro that went at a bargain basement price and it was sweet!

I think it's all about timing.

If a 928 enthusiast is looking for a good 928, at the time you are selling,
they may be willing to pay the extra money for a well-sorted car.

But when you are just dealing with the average buyer,
the higher price tends to put it out of the price range of
the average person out there looking for a 928. At least
that was my experience when selling my car. I had to wait
for the right buyer. And even then, had to come down on
the price... And mine was pretty nice also.

Keith, I just read that you are selling your '82. The pictrues are terrific, and the car looks even better in person. I checked e-bay, and noticed that there were no bids yet. When I sold my '82 in 03, the buyer found it here on rennlist. He paid $9k. You really should post it here on the rennlist classifieds, my experience is that many people believe that knowledgeable people list here on rennlist. I just sold my wheels and tires Friday, the buyer also found them on rennlist, and paid me the full asking price . Good luck

Hey thanks for the info Larry. There have been a few folks who had privately contacted me, but I may as well list it in the Rennlist Class ads as well.

On another note, An interested buyer asked me for pictures of the under carrage and suspension. I figured I may as well post them here in case anyone is interested. There is still some under coating left on the car and it certainly isn't as clean as top side. If I had a lift, that may be a different story. How many guys are willing to "moon" someone at the drop of a hat? I actualy think it is pretty clean compared to what I have seen on other cars.

Aside from promoting my auction..., I thought I would give a little update as to what the status is...whether anyone cares or not.

Auction ends tonight 7:00PM PST. No one has bid on the car. However, 1500+ have looked at the auction, 47 are watching it in their Ebay que and I have had lot's of emails and messages over the car related to this auction. The first thing I will say, is no one had contacted me and told me I was crazy...actually, quite the contrary. I have had about 6 emails from folks who already own 928's and just wanted to tell me how nice they thought the car was and that they wish they could have purchased it....and the price is more than reasonable....go figure At least 5 people are VERY interested and one had his daughter come by to view the car. Based on all of this, I have a feeling there may be a last minute frenzy....at least I hope so! I did get an email last night that pissed me off. Some guy wanted me to drive the car out to his place of business so he could test drive it and inspect it to see if he wanted to bid on it. I REALLY kept my wits about me and responded without using any 4 letter words directed at him. He then sent an email back and asked if he could come out to where I am...I deleted his email.

So who ever is the keeper of the shrine these days, throw a couple of wheels and pistons into the fire for me. I can use a bit if luck on this one.

BTW, if it doesn't sell on Ebay, I did get the request from a Chef down in New Orleans, that he will pay the $8500 once he gets his insurance money...

Done.

If you decide to relist it, set you starting bid lower to generate some interest. Let people get wrapped up in the emotion of bidding for it. But hopefully you won't have to relist it.

There is some powerful 928 gravity building in that general area. It will suck me in sometime in the future.

My wife and I always talk about moving there too. We have some dear friends out there.
No, No, It rains all the time here, haven't you heard. Traffic is ugly and housing is way too expensive..........And property tax arrggghh

Seriously, come on up. It would be great to have more 928's in the area.
Keith, let me know when you get here. First round's on me.

Cheers,
