16" wheel Goodyear F1s - Good Deal
I need to replace my fronts (almost to the cords on the inner wall) and get an alignment.
For those still with 16" wheels, Tirerack has a special price under $100 for any interested parties.

A good price is a good price, but...
There have been some negative reports on the eagle F1 tires. Do a earch here with that in the subject line and you may get some info. OTOH, I can stand a lot for half-price tires.

Tom,I've been running Pirelli P7000 Super Sports on mine and although they're not the cheapest and most expensive, they fare wwell in all seasonal conditions, great wear and ride is nice too without being too noisy.

There are several models of F1's. The F1 GS D3 is their best, I believe. But, I don't think those are going to go for $100. C&D rated them very highly in their evaluation last year, #1 as I recall. Tire Rack also rates them at #1 in their class. I have them on my 911 for street tires, and they are excellent.
IMO, a $100 tire will only deliver $100 worth of performance...

PS I've never found a Goodyear tire I liked. The Wrangler RSAs on my Jeep are wearing unevenly... from tread block to tread block and even across individual tread blocks.

Just got my tires today. These are the GS-D3s. These are $150 tires marked down to $98. Considering a lot of people (with 16" wheels) from what I gather are using ~$100 tires, I think it is a great deal.
I've been using the F1s since I got my car in January. And I don't have any other reference point for my 928, but I have never been in a situation where I wished I had more tire - including a PCA HPDC day.
BTW, if your tires are too loud, your exhaust isn't loud enough.
