Twin Turbo - oil return line?
Hello!
Im curius - how do you do, who have put twin turbo at the manifolds, get the oil back in the pan without getting oil upp in the turbo when accelerating?
Do you have a pump of some sort or just put the pedal to the met....and dont care? ;-)
I have the turbo in the front and high location so there is no problem there - but I thinking of building TT on my other car S4 90.

On my single and my twin that were both front mounted and high I welded on a fitting to the front of the oil breather tube.
On the twin low and back setup I had a catch can, return lines to a pump, (basically a section of a dry sump pump) mounted where the air pump mounts and on to the breather tube.

On the factory 931 the final set up was to run a drain line to the crankcase with a midmounted cannister and vent for vapors. The condensed oil went to the crankcase and the vapors were either vented to the oil separator or cam cover(last mod). If your turbos are mounted high enough a gravity feed to the oil separator or drain line at the front of the engine would work.

The pump method works well. I've used mechanical and electrical pumps. The mechanical pumps are quieter and do fit nicely in the air pump or idler location. The pump can pull a lot of vacuum on the oil return, plus it is also a darned handy place to drop the oil from a seperation system!
