1. Beverly Hills Porsche in Santa Monica. Charley Folks is the 928 mechanic who has driven his 928 as a daily driver for over 20 years and is very knowledgable.
2. Stuttgart Auto (310) 473-4529
3. Precision Motorsports in Anaheim- Greg Brown has more 928 experience than anyone I know 714-879-9072

My mechanic Jules Hauer drives a 928 as a daily driver. He also works on the German Counsel General's 928 GT

Hauer's German Car Service
7740 N. Sepulveda Blvd.
Van Nuys, California 91405
818-989--561

Very skilled and very reasonably priced

Go the distance and see Greg Brown at Precision Motorwerks, you won't be disappointed. Take the train home, it is close by.

Default Go to Precision

Greg is definitely the best. If you want the best.

I took mine to him for timing belt, etc and I live in San Diego.
Leave it till he's done , your car will purr.

dsts6, welcome to the neighborhood!

You might consider sharing some info about your car, and what problem you are having. There's a wealth of knowledge and experience here at your beck and call, plus a few of the SoCal group have hammers and crescent wrenches of their own, such that they may be able to help you with some problems.

Post your location (city and/or freeway cross) and you may find another lister in your corner of town.

I second the common opinion, Greg from P.M.
BTW: Don't count on him this week or the next, he is on vacation! (i wonder if he will be going to Monterey, anyone knows?)

Ditto on Jules here. Very easy guy to deal with.

And I concur with thoughts on Greg Brown at Precision as well. He's the best that I've taken my car to.

SoCal guys are great! After taking delivery of my shark and having some problems, these guys came over that night, no small task as to getting around on the LA freeways isn't always easy. Especially Keith and Bob of the SoCal group I wish to extend thanks to.

In LA, you should be in good hands.

I don't know about all the cool people, but we have a few. It may just be a numbers thing, since I think somewhere around 25% of the cars were sold in Cali originally. Gravity causes the better cars to fall south, although there are some exceptions.

There are more than a few pockets of cool 928 people in the country, and you are smack dab in the middle of one where you are. Where else can you pretty much depend on having a (pick a task) 928 party at Bill Ball's place at least once a month? More than a few up there driving around in peace (t-belts) and comfort (AC working) thanks to Bill. Plus you have Devek there, once a Mecca for owners of the cars.

Look at all the good deeds that are posted here from all over the country and the world, plus there are a lot of good deeds uncelebrated I'm sure.

We all need to stick together and support each other and our vendors if we want to continue the current level of enjoyment. The number of cars is dwindling and there are no more being sold, last I heard.

Mike-

1) Buy another 928. They are around, and for good prices. Tim Delarm still has his pristine (and I mean PRISTINE!) black S4 for sale. There are lesser cars too if you want a project, at varying degrees. Knowing what i know about me, I'd buy a car that's as close as possible to how I want it in the end.

2) You are more than welcome at any of our SoCal events, with or without a car. Good hands with wrenches and experience are welcomed with open arms and free lunch to boot!

It'll be a while before I get into another 928, but i'll definately keep on the lookout for those socal events. I'm going to try and showup more often at that Sunday supercar meet as well.
