The front lenses fit 78-95 too?
PET shows a different part number for 78-86, versus 87-95. Is it only a difference in the connector or something?

Either way, I can assure you I have happy customers with new and old 928 model cars.

When looking closely at the 944 lenses vs the 928 .03 lenses the only difference is the placement of the center bulb amplifying (Fresnel) lens. The 944 is located about 1/2 inch in one direction that I cannot recall vs it being centered on the 928. There may be a similar difference on the early vs late model 928's. Bulbs used are identical.
I am not sure how much of an impact this would have but it would be nice to have a set for the 944. Does anyone know how critical the lens location is?

When I tried to get some side markers to send to Germany for making the castings, the seller sent me a 944 marker by accident. As far as I could tell, the white back was the same, but the lens was a hint longer on one end.
It is quite possible to make the 928 lenses work on a 944, but there may be a bit of a gap on either end of the lens. I'd be curious to know how serious of a problem that is.
Next thing you know we see ads like:
For Sale: 944 turbo, 928 side marker upgrade, $20k

Just in case you're interested - there are a few challenges in making those lenses so nice:
1. The originals (amber or red) lenses are rarely smooth and consistent - particularly on the surfaces of the reflective pattern inside. This is not very visible on the colored lenses, but every tiny flaw shows big on the clear ones. We found a way to eliminate most of this problem before we make the molds, but occasionally there are some rough spots left that we can't eliminate.
2. The molds have to be made of high grade silicone materials that provide superior surfaces - cheaper silicon that is not so smooth will make the lenses dull, or - worse - uneven, buckled, or otherwise unacceptable for our standards.
3. There is a wide variety of clear materials available at different price points. Some less expensive ones have a tendency to get yellow over time, others don't turn out as crystal clear as we like to see them. We make no compromise when it comes to these materials and buy only the top of the line stuff. It's the best we can do to make them look good for a long time. You don't want to redo your markers every few years. After all, you started with amber lenses, and you don't want them to turn amber again because of cheap materials...
4. We also found that mixing tinting material into the clear material makes it stick to the molds, and destroys the molds upon removal of the lens. That's why I no longer offer tinted lenses.
In summary, if we face a decision on quality versus our time or cost, we always decide for quality. Call this quality thinking a crazy German thing, call my lenses pricy or whatever - but I will do everything in my power NOT to give you a reason to call them bad...

Glad you guys like the lenses! I hope I can convert mine over the winter. Don't think I can get it done before Sharktoberfest - too many other projects right now.
I updated the product listings of all my lenses with the corresponding model years. The side marker lenses fit all US 928s.
Can you please be more specific on this? Which products have incorrect pictures?
Thanks!

Nicole:
In looking at your website, it refers to the need to "bond" the new lenses in. What exactly is entailed, using silicone or similar sealant to fasten them to the fixture? I've not even looked at the lenses on my car or how they are installed.

Hi Ed:
Best is, if you get yourself a second set of side marker lights to work on. Then you can prepare them without downtime of your car, and swap them when you have all four ready.
