Only thing I can image keeping you from mounting winter wheels with spacers is that they are really wide and they do not have pieces missing between mounting holes so that using narrow spacer hub studs are on the way. On wide spacers hub studs are usually hidden inside spacer mounting holes and do not protrude to surface unless they are too long for application. In which case they could be shorter as long as spacer is correct type.

My 235/40 fronts came with 38psi & the 265/40 rears came with 44psi......I ran the car like this for a while and it had good traction and a nice ride.....when I pumped up my old stock 16" rears to 44 psi it rode horrible and had no traction! I dropped the rears to 40psi & left the fronts at 38psi....a touch softer ride now & still excellent traction!!
