Default Steering Wheel: re-stitched, re-covered, restored.

Hello everyone,

one the most requested item (aside from seats) as been the steering wheel.
Many would like to keep the original if it could be brought back to new.

There as been a lot of discussions lately on the matter, so I decided to give it a try. Here are a few pictures of the first prototype. I decided to use contrasting red thread on black leather mainly to excite my friend Roger
but also, so everyone could see the details of the lacing and stitching.

The horn pad is engraved with the Porsche crest, but as with most of my other items, I can also engrave almost anything that is requested.

I make my own covers, so as long as we can find a matching leather, I can make your steering wheel any way you want. I already have most of the standard Porsche colors in stock.

For those interested, the price will be $185.00 + shipping
That will get you:
- a new leather cover (color of your choice), hand laced to your steering wheel,
- a French seamed leather cover for the horn pad and the engraving of your choice.

The only additional costs would be for exotic leather choices like Ostrich or Alligator. The price will depend on the design.
Also, for those who would prefer an actual crest in place of the engraving, I could inset it for a nice factory look and the additional cost would be about $25 to cover the cost of the crest.

Hope you like it, and as always, I'm open to suggestions

Thanks

Paul

Hey Nicole, thank you for your kind words.
Yes, I can do the same for airbag wheels. The airbag cover will be stitched separately and there is a procedure that needs to be carefully observed when removing the steering wheel and airbag.

I have to say... this looks great. I recently re stiched my wheel with a classic gray replacement skin from AGLA ($85). I have to say... What a piece of crap! Not only did it take them 3+ weeks to get it to me, but also within a week I noticed areas of dye coming off, and the overall fit just wasn't right. Very unhappy. But until now, there really wasn't any alternative.

So Paul, is the leather you are using similar to the OE leather? Vat dyed or surface? Since the airbag wheels can't use you center pad, do you have a different price for those? If you haven't done one yet, I'd be happy to offer up my wheel for a classic gray re-hab. Let me know. Thanks.

Very Sweet.

Can probably have the center seam placed at the 12 o'clock position for those
track inspired.

Is Sharkskin too grippy for steering wheel or is that like 'eating your young.'

Keeping my Momo wheel for now.

Thats awesome work Paul..... standard for you of course! Especially like the idea of a Porsche factory crest on the horn pad to look factory.
Think Sharkskin would pretty much feel like holding on to sandpaper, but I like the thinking.

Paul, Wow!!.

That almost makes me want to put a stock steering wheel back on my car vs. the Momo wheel.

Keep up the great work.
