Default What's wrong with Devek?

Some of you may recall that I added a comment to another string regarding problems getting a reply from Devek. I have patiently waited and waited but now am totally fed up and quite angry. I know many listers have had a good experience with Devek and wish I was one. This history is related to emails to/from Susan Thomas:

21 March order placed (for oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and grand prix white touch up paint). This order was itself to use up a credit because they sent me the wrong heater hoses (which I had to return at my own cost from New Zealand)
22 March 2006 confirmation that order received and will be shipped. No confirmation of actual shipping.
3 May follow up email by me asking where the shipment was. No reply.
9 May follow up call by me, message left. No reply.
12 May follow up email by me.
13 May, Susan replied saying she will look into it.
6 June follow up email from me. No reply.
19 June further follow up email from me. No reply.
21 June email to marc@devek.net (not certain address is correct). No reply.
30 June I called and spoke to Susan [/INDENT]and got advised shipment not dispatched but will be in the next two days.

On 4 July I posted the above history in another Rennlist string where a member said they were not getting replies and Susan posted this reply: "Sorry for any delays that anyone has experienced recently. We are a tad short handed at the moment but that will be changing soon. Rather than get into a discussion of each person's issues here (Ryan and Jason), rest assured that I will respond as soon as possible, although it might be after the Fourth of July holiday. We are indeed closed today and tomorrow.

My sincere apologies for any inconveniences to anyone."

However I received no direct communication from her of any sort. Since then:

20 July follow-up email by me. No reply.
24 July follow-up email by me. No reply.
25 July follow-up email by me. No reply.
28 July follow-up email by me. No reply.

I have always been courteous and professional in my dealings with Susan and last year ordered and received a radiator and engine mounts with no issues so this is all the more bizarre. I am trying to be sympathetic, maybe she has been sick or something but this is no way to run a business and if I could I would go and bang on their door. Right now I am going to go to my credit company and see if I can reverse the original payment but if there is anything anyone can do to put pressure on Devek I would be grateful. I can only underline to anyone new considering doing business with them, don't.

Here we go again, bummer you evidently have a credit in your favor.

Personally I would have cut my losses and found someone else to order the parts from, there are other 928 business's that would gladly take and fulfill your order. Sometimes its just not worth the stress or hassle, move on. My 0.02c ...

WOW! (see Bigs, one excalmation mark,Ha, ha) You are way more patient than I would be, especially after Susan confirmed she would take care of things right here on the forum. There are too many other good vendors to do business with. Cancel the order and call someone else, like 928 intl. Short handed or not, this is no way to run a business. Makes you wonder if Mark reads these and is even aware!

New Zealand? i'd say the problem is that the shipment of your parts is going throught US Customs Examinations. Imagine a 928 fuel pump and filter: Most people woukdn't know if it was a flux capacitor or an IED, so it gets delayed, simpy becasue a dog thinks it smells funny. Sorry man, this is George B.s USA. Susan just lives here.- Ruf

People actually buy from Devek - I'm dumfounded!

I was right in the middle of negotiations for a cat back system and for no apparent reason they stopped communicating.

You gotta be kidding me, unfortunatley I suppose you're not, sad. Now the President is responsible for a business not communicating with their customer...

The important thing is not to take it personal, I don't, anymore.

It was obvious he was referring to the customs stuff, not the communications issue. But it's much easier to knock down this strawman than dispute his actual point, isn't it?

Rufus.."New Zealand? i'd say the problem is that the shipment of your parts is going throught US Customs Examinations. " Actually you really do not want to know how little examination takes place on out going shipments and even incoming although looked at more carefully most of the "inspection" is simply LOOKING at the paperwork. Otherwise how could the U S bring in BILLIONS of dollars worth of Chinese goods every month ! Which perhaps we can attribute to Bush .
