SC shark owners and others
I would like to know if any of you have or had clutch problems after your sc installs. I was out last night running her fairly hard on some 0-60 pulls. Then she started acting sluggish off the line and would not spin the tires. It would eventually grab, but after 4-5 k rpm it was like I was half in neutral and half in gear.( revs would climb but not commensurate with speed) Then I would let off and come back on easy and it seemed fine then. I parked it in the garage and smelled a burning belt type smell. But it wasn't an overpowering smell. My clutch has only 20k on it and I am hoping it is something else! Can any of you post symptoms of a failed/failing clutch? See my sig for info.

your clutch is toast. doing launches like that will definitely shorten the clutch life. the stock clutch should hold in standard driving, but if you're doing things like that you may consider going to a different disc or a gts clutch or even a twin disc setup, (or worst case a tilton triple disc)

Clutch is 4yrs old with under 20k on it. could you describe your impression of what a slipping clutch would feel like?
Thanks Tom,

Yup... you've roasted the clutch. It doesn't really matter how many miles you have on it, all it takes is one bad (long) launch and she's toast. The twin disk clutches can handle a lot more abuse and since you are boosted, I recomend you look into doing a reftrofit to a twin disk.

Definitely sounds like a bad clutch, similar smell to toasted brakes.

Kevin,
Your car looks incredible! It sounds as if you heated up the clutch pretty good. Have you driven it since letting it cool off? I've heated clutches up (not a 928) to where they started to slip and once I let them cool they were ok.
What's involved to switching to the twin-disc set up?
May very well be my first 'might as well' while we are doing the engine swap.

Sounds like toasty clutch.
Your sluggish starts off of the line, your RPMS went high but the Shark just wasn't moving, right?

Kevin, sorry off topic. Can you PM more details on your Riva's? They look like jewelry for the shark!
Good luck with the clutch work, make sure you change all the other components like Throwout bearings etch while in there as this could lead to premature wear as well.

Abby, thanks! Pmotts-exactly. I have not run it since cooling. Odd thing is it doesn't smell that bad, like burnt rubber kind of. Anyone running Carl's racing clutch set up?
