Yes, the core is made for the least pressure drop possible for the size. These are made by Bell Engineering. It is my design from 3 years ago...I can hardly believe it has been this long since I stared fooling with fabricating this stuff. If the airflow was side to side the pressure drop would be much greater...besides most of the heat transfer happens in the first 6-8" anyway.

Charlie...I would just make a new manifold for your car...go ball bearing with integral wastegate. These IHIs are old school...the turbos today are so, so much better....there is no comparison. Just a K-26 plain Jane upgrade on my 4.5 made a lot of difference...with cams I got another 30-ft lbs and lost no HP up top (even though they are tighter on the hot side). The easier route would be to saw off the old flange and make a new one to mount the turbo of your choice! There has to be room on that setup for a much larger turbo. I've been 944-less for about 2.5 years now.

How many previous owners do you suppose need to be taken to the wood shed and given a good old-fashioned beating? Let's start in Wisconsin...
