Default Spark Plug wires

I have a boot (cap) that has come off my original wires and they i see it is a crimp fitting.

I have a complete set of carbon core wires and was wondering is it ok to mix and match them?

As long as they're solid-core, it should be fine (normal-looking stranded wire, not "wound">

BTW: those crimped "M3" connectors are also crimped onto the actual wire behind the threaded shank (tiny huh?), so merely unprying the 7mm crimp will not release the wire.

Mark (I have some M3's I can send you ($1 each) for some repair if need-be. Email me, Porschesolutions@gmail.com if so.

"carbon core" could mean spiral core or solid core, best to find out which one, but either way, yes, it will work, though if spiral core, that will be your weaker-spark cylinder. 928 32v's are surprisingly sensitive to spiral core wire...which is how I got into my wires in the first place!

Seems like an unneccesary variable to add into the engine equation. I don't see how it could hurt, but if you have a problem later on, you're going to be asking yourself, "Hmmm, I wonder if that wire is causing this...?" Just my 2 cents.

Are you doing all of this work yourself? Looks great!

Mark Robinson (who posted above) makes 928 wire sets from Beru components. I know he can do blue and I think he can do red now. Your other choice is Magnecor for a lot more money.

I've got Magnecor leads on one of my other cars, and they came to a quarter of what OEM leads would have been, and half of what other aftermarket lead sets were.
I was hoping that they would be as cheap on the 928 as i'm sure my car needs a new set after 21 years!

The cleaned and machined heads and block. 2 pics of the powdercoated intake and cam covers. The pistons and cams laid out. We're getting there slowly, but surely!!!!
I use Magnecor, but other brands are out there with red too.

Thanks. I'll check out Magnecor. I had a set on my Probe GTS.
