Carlos, In regard to the displacement of the bar from off center front to back as to the end mounts, I think the limit of 7/8 inch has to do with the material (but that could be changed) and some as to the oil intake, but more from an engineering standpoint. I think that the bar/tube can be placed anywhere in respect to the end mounts so long as the center line of the tube is at or between the center of the two bolts, up to being right at the center of either bolt. When the center of the tube goes outboard of either bolt the bending forces change from simply up and down to up and down and now side to side. Maybe not a big deal, but just my thought from an intuitive engineering standpoint. Still the oil fill snout is probably the biggest point of concern.

As to the elevation of the bar/tube, the centerline of that is already a bit above the mounting plane, so raising it a bit more to give you more room above the pinch area is probably not a problem. I have obtained two pieces of bar stock that is an inch and half thick rather than the one inch for the near stock ends, so I think the bar can be raised quite a bit; up to 5/8 inch, Even that may depend on the space under the hood with the hood closed. That is another limit.

As to the holes -- I have used lightening holes in much of my prior aviation fabrications, mostly in regard to sheet metal, and there it both lightens the material but with the holes flanged (commonly) it stiffens the part. Here I think the holes are going to reduce the tendency of the brace to resist bending, but probably mostly in the direction perpendictular to the holes. In other words, if the holes are up and down they will probably not reduce the resistance to up and dowm bending by as much as if they are front to back. However I like the looks of them front to back the most, particularly as to the use of square tubing. I'm not sure if I can even find any aluminum rectangular tubing.

Do you still want a text-less 928MS brace, were one available? I bought one because I kind of made a stink about the branded one being the only option and felt like I had to put my money where my mouth was, even though never really wanting to use it. I don't remember if I scrapped the factory brace or not, though, so if I can find that in the parts bin the clean brace could be available.

I also have a 'spare' OE front cross brace. Removed from a 70K S4 that was totaled when hit by an 18 wheeler about 15 years ago. I don't think there is even a scratch on the OE black finish.

Guys, I have 21 928s and plenty of spare parts for them so having one to work from is the least of my worries. But thanks for the offers. JF

Thank you PC. I did not know about them being available through Amazon. I did find some on the 928 Motorsports site, Pelican, and on eBay. The eBay ad says the seller (928 Motorsports) is away until April 30, which is longer than I wanted to wait.[/QUOTE]
