You guys are awesome! I followed your directions, quickly and easily tracked down the problem, and pulled the AC console controller (as you suggested), and easily saw (smelled) that the relay had burned out. I also now know the fix options. Thanks to all.

BTW, the fan fuse blew simultaneously with the relay going out...even though apparently unrelated. Just lucky, eh? Hopefully all the other components are still OK after this.
