No knock on the stuff you did Mark.....you get credit for having done a complete engineering job FIRST. And I am sure over the years there have been regular improvements in design to the various components needed to make a complete system. That is my only point in comparing brackets. "No failures" speaks for itself. I was really thinking about the longer bolts and the attachment points to the block being aluminum. AND as I stated, I am not an engineer.....so my opinion is nearly worthless. I like the bulk, keyed design, block form fitted, integral tensioner, upper bracket brace and material selection of the Murph bracket design. Maybe that only makes it over engineered........I dunno....
I am curious why you choose the stanchion design. I recall there is a clearance issue with a flat piece of material bolted to the front of the block once the loom and front engine hanger is removed. The stanchions get your flat stock clear of that issue....yes?

powersteering pulley
here is a pic of the power steering pulley i had turned. the objective is to offset the belt so it will be in line with the alternator pulley and driven by the same belt. outer diameter for this pulley is about 10cm, i hope its not too large to squeeze in an idler pulley somewhere between the two..
its taking a bit of time to assemble all the various patrts for this project, one luxury i dont have is a garage where i can install these things one piece at a time so im trying to get as much together as possible before committing the car to a shop for installation. does anyone know where i can source the motorsport injectors? i need 30lb ones.

thanks for the link john! i wish i could get this project happening quicker but there are just so many other things going on at the minute ie. just back from tasting wine in tuscanny..

Nick, I lost the pic of before/after of the pulley. Here is a pics of it installled. The pulley sits around the ps pump just as the original pulley. The pulley has 8 ribs but I got a 6 rib belt on it. So far I have not had any problems with the belt moving forward OR backward.

gio, your pulley looks larger than the original too so i hope im doing something right, maybe! it seems the roots/twin screw blowers use a smaller crank pulley than the centrifugal so maybe overdriving the powersteering is less of an issue for you guys too?

gio, the crank pulley i have (pics on previous page, red anodised) is 6 + 3/4" to the outer edges. the actual diameter that the belt turns around is a bit less, but even so im still going to be overdriving my powersteering pump as it normaly turns 1:1 with the crank pulley. with it going around the new crank pulley at aprox 170mm and the new steering pulley at aprox 100mm gives a ratio of about 1:1.7 if my math is correct.

here is a question: how do you remove the pulley from the centrifugal head unit???
my project is advancing incrementaly mainly due to the ton of other stuff also happening. this weekend im off to germany to collect a load of parts to convert the 79 from auto to manual (upgrading suspension and brakes while we are at it); the parts from pace are ready for the drysump project and im having headers adapted from left to right hand drive as we speak, phew... no wonder im always broke though!
ive been pondering how to fit the drysump pulley and the supercharger pulley along with driving the alternator and power steering pumps. there were pics posted a while back of someones custom vortech setup - i think it was a FAST setup originaly - on a 16v car. in this setup the crank pulley was bolted in series with a smaller length charger pulley and this is what im thinking of for my setup, basicaly to bolt the crank pulley and oil pump pulley through to the charger pulley.
also mentioned was the need to beef up the tensioning mechanism so this will also need investigation. at the moment the next plan is to finalise the crank pulley arrangement and hopefully get it fixed on the car. the injectors may get upgraded when the headers are ready, as at the last sharktuning session the stock injectors were reaching max duty.
