Default Horsepower Gain

Just a quick question for GT owners or others with knowledge regarding my car. Any idea how much there is to gain by running NO catalytic converters? I'm not interested in doing anything drastic to the engine, but this seems like a simple measure, if it's worth it. I'm already running a RMB. Is there a large increase in noise when running no cats?

Thanks for the advice...

By the way, anyone run blended fuel using part 93 and part racing (108) or all racing??? Worth it?

Yes there is a big increase in noise.

Common reports of a crossover w/o cats is around 25-30 hp/tq

My 90 GT has the cats removed. It is also chipped. Dyno'd at 305 rwhp. Unfortunately I don't have the before and after dyno results as I bought the car this way. I have considered RMB with no cats but I think it would be way to loud - what I've heard from others with GT exhaust.

So are you suggesting cross pipes with the stock muffler in order to combat the noise increase? I think there's 8-10 hp increase in the RMB? I just don't want the car to sound like a panzer approaching, since I do live in neighborhood, and will occasionally be going to the store or out to dinner....you know?

Thanks again,

Roland

Roland -
I think the X-pipe (no-cats) with stock rear muffler gains about 25 rwhp. Not sure if anyone has measured the combined increase with an RMB - so I don't know if the effects are additive or not. I have an RMB on the wall waiting to be installed, but most people I've talked to say an x-pipe with an RMB is too loud and that the ideal setup is one or the other with the edge going to the x-pipe. My car is rumbly at low speeds - nothign that would wake up the neighborhood... until I hit the fast pedal.

Not sure I have ever seen proof of that. The X Pipe will make you mucho happy.
