Porsche museum , 928 Returned ?
Hi all I was wondering if it would be a good idea to contact Porsche and see if they would like to have my 1988 Showcar back to put into the new museum they are building in Zuffenhousen (sp),And does anyone know how to contact anyone that might make a decision like that. Dont get me wrong but the car i have is really in very nice condition and I just thought that it might be a cool thing to do with this one off production model, after all they made it for the 10th anniverary of the 928, and they only made one that i know of, Thanks for your time, Stan
PS any thoughts on this subject please feel free to air them as far as Pros and Cons of doing this

Stan,
Man I would love to know more about the car. See some pics etc... One way to ensure the car stays around for everyone to enjoy is to put it in a museum. I can't believe you would be willing to part with her though

Hi thats just the point it is in very good condition and the only way to really take care of it is to put it in a plce that is clean, dry and safe, I am a little paranoid about someone running into it or some other catastrophy taking place, and the paint is still lovely even with a few chips here and there, but time will wear it out ...Unless?????

Stan, I wouldn't let it up unless they want to pay up for it! Also, you would need to put stock wheels and maybe brakes back on it. I guess there are 2 ways to look at it, either you have a one off car, or porsche has their one off car?

I would start with Martin Peters in the P.R. department. He could set you up with someone who could give you an answer. I can get the number for you in the morning if you want to contact him.

Umm... the 89GT.. well i am trying to find out where it went. I think I want to buy it. I like Stan's car too... but i think i am starting to stretch my budget thin looking at all those cars( 89 GT, 90 GT, 95 GTS, and now this one off 88)... umm those cars are too yummy and need a marble A/C'd garage

Stan: From a museum perspective it doesn't matter how you got it - it matters how it left the factory. Unless you (or a previous owner) are such a famous celebrity that any mods don't matter.
Do you have the original square mirrors in pearl ivory? How 'bout the missing phone?
I can't say for sure that it's the auto show car I've seen. There are factors that cast doubt on this - for example that the Frankfurt Auto show is only in odd years, and yours was made in an even year, a few months after I would have seen it in Stuttgart (the local show there is always in January). It might be a US version copy of the car I've seen - we were not able to confirm either way. And maybe a bit of mystery is good...
Accept it - Porsche makes one-off cars every day. They are meant to be enjoyed by those who buy them, or by the succeeding owners. It's Porsches' business model to make individual cars - even though not too many US buyers take advantage of this.
Enjoy your car and come to as many 928 gatherings as possible. Let people think you are a celebrity. That's OK - you are a nice guy in need of a good wife...

Stan/Nicole,
One thing i am wondering about... this car shows US Specs, and usually show cars by Porsche in Europe are euro spec... did the Frankfurt car have US Specs? that would be really odd.
Sincerely,

A man needs a wife like a fish needs a bicycle....I changed the sex from what Bono wrote, but I still believe it to be true. Heck here in Utah, we can have more than one wife anyway....Hell it was God's will that we have multiple wives, until Utah decided to join the Union and then they decided its BAD to have multiple wives.
BTW Nicole, are you proposing to Stan on the forum? Bold move, but I like an empowered woman! Nice to see that women are allowed to propose to men now.
