Minnesota 928 Group July 2 Fun Run & USGP
The Summer is flying by so the Mn. 928 Group is getting as much road time as possible. Our July 2 Fun Run was topped off by a get together to check out the USGP (too bad about Scott Speed...).
After hooking up early that morning, we found we had 7 sharks in our school. This was the most we could remember.
The Crew included Roger & Roger Jr. S., Joe O., Glen & Jim L. Don & Greg D., Ricko H. and the incomparable Steve H. Two GTS's, an 81, an 82, an 85, an early Euro, and Rickos Porsche-Chevy S4 were about the widest array of sharks we'd ever had. The differences were obvious on the road.
We cruised over to Jordon MN on some nice roads, and then down to the “Ring” where we did a few laps. The cars with over 300 HP were just amazingly quicker. This wasn't a surprise but when you have less then 230 HP, it's “eye opening” when one of the GTSs or the Euro or Ricko just blast past! More power to you all Bros! That's why I like the twistys. Less chance to show the old girls “short comings”.
After the drive, most of us headed back to my place to check out some really fantastic action at the USGP. We put some brawts on the grill, cracked a few Fosters and watched the mayhem in turn one, and the fantastic job by the Ferrari and Renault boys. Too bad for McLaren.
During the race Mike & Betsy S. showed up with their one-of-a kind '82 with the only example of “Heron Grey” ever put on a 928. No spoilers, but it's still quite unique compared to the Red and Metalics we all have.
After the race, a “driveway Concorse 'de Elegance ” broke out. it seems the look of these is just everlastingly entertaining. Comparing wheel, wings, or anything else you can imagine, across the whole spectrum of 928s. What Fun.
How do you get 5 sharks in your driveway? Throw some meat in the water. (or on the grill)
Were getting great weather and great turnouts this summer. There's alot of time 'till the snow flies so keep an eye out for more. - Ruf

Yes, it was a great time. Thanks for organizing, navigating and hosting, Ruf!
Lots of fun to see the variety of cars and the splash of colors. From a prestine, unique '82 to the GTSs to that wild show car we had quite the assortment.
The drive was great. The "free form" ring loops were a blast. I spotted the carbon actually coming out of Don's car. (And he from mine.)

More Pictures from the rear of the pack
It's great following the group. How many other cars with 100,000 to 200,000 miles on them can handle curves at high speed and cruise at over 100MPH?

Thanks Rufus, Yeah those are nice. I had emailed with Don a couple years ago about them. Recently Darien in vegas had a set. They aren't made anymore. They look good for the 928, tasteful bling.
I would like to see them in person on a shark and its quite a coincidince that darien and don have similiar color sharks w/o side moldings.
Thanks again Rufus.
