I don't have an intake sitting in front of me to play with so, I'm not going to try to make sense of it just yet. Nor will I opine on what I think I remember happens to these bits.

That's just the way it came out. It came from an intake with no evidence at all of a previous removal (not only for the flappy stuff but for the whole intake...)

I plan on taking pictures of this assembly from now on every time it comes out.

Hey, I'm not going to get inbetween you, the Seattle 'murican profs, and The Queen on this. In my defence, I didn't even notice until you pointed it out.

While we are on this topic, can someone tell me how much vac. is required to open the flappy. Mine seems "sticky" and I am trying to bench test it with a mightyvac before I reinstall my intake.

Thanks
Tass

IIRC 10 - 15 inches should do it. The engine pulls at least 15. I seem to recall that they do seem 'slow' until they get 10+. Make sure it'll snap back quickly too.

Thank you Dave C. Thats the answer I was looking for. Mine is opening at around 7-10". Considering the amount of work it takes to get at it, I didn't want to put the intake back in the car without getting a 2nd opinion.

Since it's my plenum your trying to fix Jim I'll bump this- anyone out there with their plenum off at the moment that can supply the dimensions for the plastic sleeves that surround the flappy valve spring, Porsche want to sell me a complete plenum-we'll call that plan Z!

Dia of thinner part 21.2mm.
