Maybe I missed it, but have you checked the fuel injection relay? If not, try ot jump it.

Yep, fuel injection relay = AFC relay, or XVI on the board. the result of that relay is 12v at various places including one side of the injectors... thus I'm sure the circuit is made.

Went down to look at the car last night after a long day at work... smell gas, look under, and sure enough... my repair to the crack near one of the mounting straps has yeilded. It held for a week... then, steady drip out.
Jacked it up and opened the line out for the fuel pump into a gas can and was only able to recover about a quart... there was 2 gallons in it.

It's probably a good idea if I don't look at it for a couple of days. I can see the end of my rope from here.

MY BWAAAAAHHH HAS RETURNED!!!!!!!!!

Today I was lucky enough to hear the sweet sound of the 4.5 again! The item that caused this 4 weeks of downtime, and the bad end to a great SITM, was a failed L-jet brain.

I purchased a replacement from a nice guy in Maryland that had checked the unit and knew it to be good. Upon installation of my repaired fuel tank (sixth time, will wait a week before I claim I found the magic fix) and the new brain, it started and purred perfectly. I took it around the neighborhood and I'm startled by how smooth it is running, and an idle problem I've had since it returned to the road is fixed also.

After reading all the historical info, I was almost convinced that there was no way one of these could fail. But I've chased every sensor, every ground, every harness connection, and the only thing left was the FI controller, and now it has returned to the land of the living!!

Now, I'm gonna have to take care of a couple of concerns I found during the troubleshooting, the timing belt is tracking back and forth, and I have a power steering pump leak, but I'm ecstatic to have fixed the "starts and dies" problem!!

Thanks to many of you who have helped with tips and advice!

Now, how do I change the title that everyone sees in the thread list??? I changed the title on the first thread.
