Default Vacuum line question

I've been following the instructions at http://members.rennlist.com/captearl...rvalvemod.html to create a manual vacuum switching system for warm and cold climates. The instructions are great, but as I started to pull plastic lines apart, I got a little confused with my Mityvac.

There is a white tube that leads to the heater valve. If I pull that off the heater valve and test for vacuum (in the direction of the firewall) should that tube hold vacuum? I know that testing in the direction of the valve acuates the arm. It's in the other direction that I'm curious.

Same question goes for the black tube that goes from the four-way connection into the firewall. If I test this tube in the direction of the firewall, should it hold vacuum?

Tonight, neither of these tubes held vacuum.

My sense of the system kinda sucks, eh?

Peace,
Tim

Tim... yes, they should. (my white line is more cream-
colored. Age I suppose).

A smaller line branches off at the brake booster & goes
thru a (blue-black) check valve. Then the black line goes
into the firewall, etc. and the vac. reservoir is tee'd at
the output side of that check valve. That 'tee' might be a
cross with one leg plugged - it's a test 'port'.

G'luck.

Macreel:

You've always been so helpful. Thanks again. I tested the lines again after a tightening of the solenoid connections and all seems to be okay now.

Peace,
Tim
